So depressing. Well reported and clear. Honesty should be valued by politicians as a key part of their relationship with the bereaved families and, more widely, with the electorate. We know, though, when they do admit to their mistakes, it isn’t enough for some people and quite a lot of journalists! I sometimes wonder if only hanging, drawing and quartering of the offender would satisfy some.

That is true.
I do think on this occasion it would have really helped him own the narrative better if he had fronted up more.
There are absolutely so people who just want blood regardless of the situation.
