Croeso.
Thanks for reading the Will Hayward Newsletter.
Before I crack on, I wanted to introduce myself and explain what this is all about (though presumably you may already know this because, well, you’re already here).
So what is this newsletter? In part it is about politics, but not in the way you might imagine. It is basically about understanding Wales. Yes it will cover political decisions but it is far more about how these decisions are affecting (or are going to affect) your life.
If you are curious about Cymru and what is happening here, I think you will really enjoy this WalesOnline newsletter.
It will land in your inbox at least once a week though there will be additional ones when merited such as during elections and when big stories break. This doesn’t mean that this is just about breaking stories. The aim is that it will dive into issues and topics that do not get attention elsewhere as well as give subscribers exclusive stories that drive the conversation in Wales.
I also want to talk to you about the fact that to access this full newsletter you are going to have to spend a little bit of cash. If you have already signed up for a paid subscription, thank you so, so much. I do appreciate that in this day and age it feels like every person, company and politician is constantly pawing at your bank account.
But I also get how annoying it is when you are trying to read an online article and you are relentlessly bombarded with adverts.
A paid newsletter will enable us to focus more resources on stories which take a bit more time and expertise. In paying just a small amount for this newsletter you are directly helping to drive more investigative journalism and analysis right here in Wales.
Wales is the most wonderful place to live and work but we really have our challenges. More than ever we need an informed public who understand what is happening and how the decisions made by politicians are affecting their lives. A big part of that comes from telling important stories. If you spare £5 a month to help do so, that would be very much appreciated.
Finally, and I can’t stress this enough, this newsletter is supposed to be accessible and relevant. I have always found that the best way to understand what someone wants is to give them a damn good listening to. If you have topics you want me to look at or feedback, drop me an email at Will.Hayward@walesonline.co.uk
Thanks so much for coming along for the ride with me. The first “proper” newsletter will drop on Thursday.
